the broker, Early in the morning, leaning on my tractor I thought about my friends, drinking and singing in Bordeaux while, between two showers, I was working hard proclaiming high and loud: so much water!! In the neighboring vineyard a being of light then appeared, recognizing a well-known broker with which I was having a sibiline discussion about the quality of a grape harvested mature. This man that all sellers of must listen to religiously explained insistently that the 2006 wines were harvested too late, because at a high degree bets shouldn't be placed, and bring back home quickly the harvested grapes not even tasted. When I told him about my dates of harvest, and the two weeks that separated us from them, he looked at me strangely, as if very busy, stopping the conversation for when I invited him to taste my mature wines was flabbergasted at wasting time to get there. Just as the sheep of Panurge find their master they go head first in the right direction not even thinking or complaining of the wine becoming oxidized or of being stupid! Henri Darnat |
